🇺🇸 100% USA-Made by Hand
The steel is sourced from the United States, forged, and finished by hand in my backyard shop. The handle wood is sourced from small, family-run businesses in AZ, MT (women-owned), and WI, and I make the leather sheaths by hand, custom fit to each knife — including dying and treating the untanned leather. In a world full of machine-made, perfectly sterile tools, I aim to make something with character and integrity you can feel, perfectly balanced, in your hand. Materials & Construction

80CrV2 high-carbon steel blade is exceptionally tough with durable edge retention. Fine-grained and easy to sharpen, the blade is ideal for heavy-duty outdoor use.

Quilted Maple wood handle is stabilized with resin for a harder, more durable, and moisture resistant material. Solid copper pins and black G10 liners complete the handle construction, adding strength and subtle contrast and a comfortable, secure grip.

Custom 8oz full-grain leather sheath is hand-stitched and reinforced with copper rivets for a perfect fit. The rich, coffeedye adds a warm, natural tone. Treated with a blend of pine tar and beeswax for a waterproof, durable finish.

This knife comes standard with a right-hand carry sheath. Left-hand sheath available upon request, please email Ry Smith directly or contact me via the contact form.

Brute de Forge finish, French for "rough from the forge", the textured area of the blade, near the spine, is a natural oxide layer on the steel formed during hand-forging and heat treatment. It preserves the character of each hammer strike, creating a unique surface pattern that contrasts beautifully with the knife’s polished edge and bevel.

Full tang, fixed blade — the blade runs continuously through the handle for a strong, well-balanced tool that meets the demands of the backcountry and has a confidence-inspiring feel in your hand.

Care Info

High-carbon steel offers incredible sharpness and character, but it requires a little extra care. Treat your knife like a cast-iron skillet: use it often, keep it clean and dry, and it will reward you for a lifetime.

Important key tip — Always wipe and dry your knife frequently while cooking to maintain your knife's longevity and performance.

Basic High Carbon Steel Knife Care

  • Always keep your knife blade dry and clean.
  • Keep the wooden handle dry to prevent cracking or splitting.
  • Wash with warm soapy water - no abrasive sponges or pads.
  • Regularly maintain the edge with a leather strop or honing rod (steel or ceramic) to keep it sharp.
